Serenity is the most important ingredient in being able to be present.
— Sharon Salzberg

This 90-minute class will offer you the opportunity to drop into deep relaxation and renewal. We will begin with Metta Meditation to cultivate compassion within ourselves and outwardly toward others. Metta Meditation, also known as loving-kindness, is the practice of directing well wishes to ourselves and others who have touched our lives. Practitioners of Metta Meditation have reported greater life satisfaction, increased sense of purpose, and positive changes in their approach toward life.

Following our meditation, we will get comfortable in a series of Restorative Yoga postures designed to provide you with support for finding release. Restorative Yoga helps to work with our body’s nervous system, specifically targeting the Parasympathetic Nervous System or our resting state. In an age where many of us live in our Sympathetic Nervous System or stress response state, we are at increased risk for physical and mental dis-ease, including anxiety, depression, heart disease, and insomnia. Through Restorative Yoga, we are able to refill our natural energy reserves and find homeostasis (balance) within the mind, body, and spirit.

This class will include:

  • PDF Restorative Yoga packet with additional information and resources to deepen your practice.

  • 30-day access to the video recording of the meditation and practice.

  • Audio Recording of a guided Metta Meditation to download.

  • 1.5 non-contact hours CECs (Continuing Education Credits) for YA Registered Teachers.

For this class you will need:

  • 2 - 4 Yoga Blocks (heavy books).

  • 1 Bolster (Pillows or cushions).

  • 1 - 2 Blankets (towels).

  • Soft lighting.

  • Anything else that may support you in finding comfort.
